It’s that time of year again, it’s predictions season! June is a busy month when it comes to video game events and live streams. Everyone has their own takes and here are ours for the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase 2022.
Starfield & Redfall Gameplay Unveiled
Let’s get this obvious prediction out of the way first. Fans will get a vertical slice of Bethesda’s recently delayed games. Starfield is in the Xbox and Bethesda showcase’s promotional material, so it will definitely make an appearance, and we expect Redfall to be there as well. Don’t expect release dates as the games are slated for a “first half of 2023” release window. However, a recent Xbox Game Pass promotion suggests that Starfield will release in early 2023, perhaps meaning Q1.
Forza Horizon 5 DLC Shadow Dropped during Xbox and Bethesda Showcase
Forza Horizon 5 was released in November 2021 to well deserved critical acclaim, but it’s been a while since we heard anything from Playground Games, who are most likely busy on the next Fable title. The game does have a Season Pass and we have not heard anything about the upcoming additional content for one of the best open-world racers around. While we had fun changing up horn sounds, the time is right for new content. So, expect Forza Horizon 5 DLC to be shadow dropped during the showcase. Apparently, the DLC has already been leaked via Steam.
Grounded 1.0
Grounded has seen a stream of quality updates over the past few years. Adding new mechanics and features and growing the game from its humble beginnings. Now, though the time is right for it to hit 1.0. Expect another announcement that the game will finally leave early access during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase.
A Plague Take Requiem Makes an Appearance
A Plague’s Tale: Requiem was first announced during last year’s Xbox and Bethesda showcase. The first entry eventually made its way into Xbox Game Pass, and the sequel is slated to launch into the subscription service day and date. Expect a summer release date during the showcase. Though there are reports that the Microsoft store accidentally revealed the release date of June 17, 2022.
A Glimpse of Compulsion Games’ Upcoming Title
We have seen a majority of Xbox studios’ upcoming games except for Compulsion Games. The studio has grown immensely over the past couple of years and perhaps 2022 will be the year that we get a glimpse of what they are working on. Their upcoming game is rumored to be a third-person action-adventure title set in a dark fantasy setting. Fans will likely get a glimpse of it during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase.
Forza Motorsport Slated for 2022 Release
Announced in 2020, Forza Motorsport is typically used as a graphical showpiece for new consoles. Similar to what Forza Motorsport 5 did during the Xbox One generation. Now, it seems that Turn 10 might be ready to ship the next generation Forza Motorsport for the Xbox Series console this year. Expect to get an in-depth, but concise, vertical slice of the new tech and graphical features of Forza Motorsport.
Avowed Makes an Appearance
It’s been a while since we last saw a glimpse of Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming RPG, Avowed. Because of that, fans could expect the game makes an appearance during a showcase. The game should not be too far off and it could be slated for a 2023 release.
Xbox Touts its Growing Relationship with Japanese Developers
Xbox is trying to increase its footprint in Asia, and what better way to do that is to show upcoming Asian/Japanese games slated to hit Xbox Game Pass. Fans are already expecting Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes to hit Xbox Game Pass next year in 2023. So, expect Xbox to go all out and show it is serious about expanding its presence in Asia. Especially since Xcloud will be an integral technology to help increase their footprint on the continent. This potentially includes unveiling Hideo Kojima‘s rumored exclusive game with Xbox.
GoldenEye 007 Remaster Shadow Launches During Showcase
Yes, the GoldenEye 007 achievements have been leaked for some time. Expect the game to be released during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. The game was great during the Nintendo 64 generation. But in all sincerity, it remains to be seen if the game has aged well or not. My bet is on the latter.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Hits Xbox Game Pass
Rand Al Thor from the Xbox Two podcast famously predicted that Final Fantasy VII Remake is finally hitting the Xbox ecosystem. Not only that, it will launch onto Xbox Game Pass. There have been some signs of this.
PlayStation removed FFVII Remake from the exclusive section of its digital storefront. Also, Square Enix titles have regularly been featured in Xbox Game Pass, including Outriders. So, it is not outside the realm of possibility that the Japanese publisher gets involved with Microsoft’s gaming subscription service once again. Final Fantasy VII Remake could help cushion the blow of Starfield and Redfall’s delays by enticing players. So this move makes a lot of sense on multiple levels.
Contraband gets Released in 2022
Contraband was first unveiled during last year’s the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. It is possible that fans could expect the game gets released later in 2022. Xbox exclusive game releases have been light this year, so Contraband could possibly swoop in and get released this year during Q4 to help fill the void.
