Pokémon Battle Team Setup: Stunning Snowscape

It’s that time of the month again when I bring to you another Pokémon Doubles Battle Team. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are still going strong and the competitive scene is heating up. For this Battle Team, I looked for a fun team and I believe we found one. The team we are going to talk about this time is a weather-based team from AtmosphereVGC.  I’m calling this team Stunning Snowscape.

Team Characteristics

One of my favorite style of Pokémon teams are teams that utilize the weather. Weather teams provide a unique strategy and aspect to the game that some other teams don’t. With this team, we are going to utilize Snowy weather. We can annihilate opponents with our Tera-type Water Slush Rush Cetitan. You can set up Aurora Veil to provide extra support with Abomasnow. Abomasnow and Cetitan are the core of this team though. Thanks to their Ice-type defensive buffs, because of the snowy weather.

Indeedee has some great support moves to help out the Pokémon team. Not only that we also can drop a Trick Room on the opponents as well. Hydreigon will also help deal out some massive damage too. We have a few different strategies we can utilize with the main one being the Snowy weather.

Abomasnow

Our first Pokémon on the team, and one of our core Pokémon, is Grass/Ice-type Abomasnow. Abomasnow is a female with the Snow Warning ability. Snow Warning causes it to start snowing when the Pokémon enters the battlefield. Abomasnow is holding a Focus Sash which prevents the user from dying if it gets hit at full hit points by a move that would otherwise knock it out. It will be at 1 HP, but this only works once. We aren’t trying to get knocked out by those fire Pokémon. The 2 best stats our Abomasnow has are its Special Attack and Hit Points.

The moves Abomasnow knows are Blizzard, Energy Ball, Aurora Veil, and Protect. Blizzard is a strong Ice move that hits opposing Pokémon. It may also leave them frozen. Energy Ball is a good attack move that may also lower the target’s Special Defense stat. Aurora Veil is a move that reduces damage from physical and special moves for five turns. It can be used only when it is snowing. Protect is a move that makes the Pokémon invulnerable to most things for a turn. May fail if used in succession. Abomasnow is weak to Fighting, Poison, Flying, Bug, Rock, and Steel-types. She is super weak to Fire-type Pokémon.

Cetitan

Next up on the team is the Ice-type Pokémon Cetitan. Our Cetitan is a female that has the Slush Rush ability. Slush Rush doubles the Speed stat of a Pokémon with this ability during a Hailstorm or Snowy weather. You can see why Cetitan is one of the 2 core members of the team. She is holding an Assault Vest which boosts the holder’s Special Defense stat. At the cost of not being able to use status moves. Attack and Hit Points seem to be the 2 highest stats. Unless it’s snowing or hailing then our Speed is through the roof.

Cetitan knows Heavy Slam, Superpower, Icicle Crash, and Liquidation. Heavy Slam is a good move that’s stronger if we weigh more than the opposing Pokémon. Superpower is a very strong move, but it also lowers the user’s Attack and Defense stats. Icicle Crash is a strong Ice move that may cause the target to flinch. Liquidation is a strong Water move that may also lower the target’s defensive stats. Cetitan is weak to Fire. Fighting, Rock, and Steel-type Pokémon. She and Abomasnow are absolute gods on this team.

Armarouge

The third Pokémon on our team is the Scarlet exclusive Fire/Psychic-type Armarouge. He just happens to be the only male on this battle team and he has the Flash Fire ability. When he is hit by a Fire-type move, he will take no damage. Instead when he absorbs the move he powers up his own Fire-type moves by 50%. Armarouge is holding a pair of Safety Goggles which protect the holder from both sandstorm damage and the effects of powders and spores. This is very useful because there are whole Pokémon teams based on those types of strategies. His best stats are his Special Attack and Hit Points.

Armarouge knows Wide Guard, Trick Room, Armor Cannon, and Expanding Force. Wide Guard is a good support move that protects the user and allies from wide-ranging attacks for one turn. Trick Room is a unique move that allows slower Pokémon to get to move first for five turns. This can completely change the tide of battles sometimes. Armor Cannon is a really strong Fire move debuting in Scarlet and Violet. This move also lowers the user’s Defense and Special Defense stats. Expanding Force is a good Psychic attack that is Psychic Terrain is active, this move’s power is boosted and it damages all opposing Pokémon. He is weak to Water, Ground, Rock, Ghost, and Dark-type Pokémon.

Indeedee

Next on the team is the Psychic/Normal-type we have used before, Indeedee. We always go with a female Indeedee and she has the ability of Psychic Surge. When this Pokémon enters the battlefield she will cause the terrain to become Psychic Terrain. This means Armarouge’s Expanding force can work well with her ability. She is also holding a Psychic Seed which boosts her Special Defense stat if Psychic Terrain is active. The best stats we have for her are Special Attack and Defense.

Indeedee knows Dazzling Gleam, Helping Hand, Follow Me, and Protect. Dazzling Gleam is a good attacking move and our only attacking move to boot. Helping Hand is a support move that assists an ally by boosting the power of that ally’s attack. Follow Me is a good support move that makes all opposing Pokémon focus on the user. Protect as we know makes the user invulnerable to most things for a turn, but can fail if used in succession. In every team I’ve used her on Indeedee has always proven to be a supportive blessing for the teams. She is weak to Bug and Dark-type Pokémon.

Annihilape

Up Next on the team is a Pokémon you can get by evolution currently in Scarlet and Violet, the Ghost/Fighting-type Annihilape. This Pokémon is a female. Annihilape has the ability Defiant which will increase his Attack stat by two stages if an opposing Pokémon reduces his stats. He is also holding a Lum Berry which will cure status-affecting conditions. I really like the added Ghost-typing to this Pokémon, because it makes her really unique and can make for some interesting builds. Annihilape’s best stats are her Attack, Speed, and Hit Points.

Annihilape knows Rage Fist, Drain Punch, Bulk Up, and Protect. Rage Fist is a brand new attack debuting in Scarlet and Violet. The more times the user has been hit by attacks, the greater the move’s power. Drain Punch is a good attack that recovers the user’s HP by up to half the damage taken by the target. Bulk up is a stat-boosting move that raises the user’s Attack and Defense stat. Protect makes the user invulnerable to most things for a turn. Annilhilape can be a damage-dealing powerhouse for the team when she is needed. She is weak to Flying, Psychic, Ghost, and Fairy-type Pokémon.

Hydreigon

The final Pokémon on our Snowy team is the Dark/Dragon-type Hydregion. Hydregion is a female that has the Levitate ability. Levitate makes the Pokémon with this Ability immune to damaging Ground-type moves except for Thousand Arrows. It also is unaffected by the effects of Arena Trap, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Sticky Web, Rototiller, and terrain. Levitate is such a great ability. She is holding the Life Orb which boosts the power of her moves, but she also loses a small amount of HP with each attack it lands. So you do have to be careful sometimes. The best stats she has are Speed and Special Attack.

Hydregion knows Dark Pulse, Draco Meteor, Tera Blast, and Tailwind. Dark Pulse is a good attack that may cause the target to flinch. Draco Meteor is a strong Dragon-type attack that due to the recoil from this move, harshly lowers the user’s Special Attack stat. Tera Blast is a good attack that If the user has Terastallized, it unleashes the energy of its Tera Type. This move inflicts damage using the Attack or Special Attack stat depending on which is higher for the user. Tailwind boosts the Speed stats of itself and its allies for four turns. Hydregion is one of the choices that are good to be Terastallized when battling. She is weak to Ice, Fighting, Bug, and Dragon-types. But she is super weak to Fairy-type Pokémon.

Wrap-Up

Each time I write one of these I try to bring you different fun and competitive teams with lots of variety. Shout out to AtmosphereVGC who is the person that used this team to obtain victory in a decently sized tournament. With this Pokémon team, you get to utilize the Snowy Weather but aren’t forced to have to go that route. You have a few different strategies you can use as I mentioned before to reach the ultimate goal of victory. Dropping a Trick Room on an opponent is always fun and sometimes you just want to beat them down. If there is a Pokémon Doubles Battle Team you would like me to write about or see in the future, let me know!
